Tesla memang ibarat bayi yang dikepung oleh raksasa ( GM, Ford, dan Chrysler) namun gebrakan dari Tesla cukup membuat industri mobil besar cukup waswas. Wajar sih karena Tesla walaupun tergolong kecil namun berani investasi tinggi di bidang mesin robotik dan desain inovatif.
Sekarang bagaimana mobil tersebut dibuat mari kita simak dibawah ini.
Untuk membuat Model S, Tesla membutuhkan 50 sampai dengan 60 coil aluminium dari berbagai jenis.
Lembaran aluminium dimasukkan ke mesin.
Mesin lalu memotong-motong lembaran aluminium sesuai dengan bentuk mobil.
Lempeng aluminium lalu dimasukkan mesin press untuk membuat bentuk panel bodi.
Bodi aluminium lalu dimasukkan ke mesin perakitan untuk disatukan dengan kerangka mobil.
Tesla menggunakan berbagai macam teknik welding, antara lain industrial-strength adhesive, self-piercing rivets, cold metal transfer welding, new delta spot welding, or conventional resistance welding.
Panel bodi yang sudah disatukan lalu dikirim ke bagian pengecatan.
Area ini adalah area paling bersih karena adanya debu dan partikel sekecil apapun bisa menimbulkan cela saat sesi pengecatan.
Setelah tahap pengecatan lalu tahap perakitan.
Tesla memiliki 160 robot multitasking untuk memasang bagian-bagian kendaraan, tampak terlihat robot memasang kursi depan dengan akurasi tinggi.
Robot yang sama bisa memasang windshield, memasang lem, dan merekatkan dengan bodi secara bersamaan.
Tetap harus di inspeksi oleh insinyur Tesla sebelum dikirim ke konsumen.
Secara keseluruhan pabrik Tesla bisa mempekerjakan 3000 orang dalam satu lokasi pabrik.
Ya walau dibandingkan dengan industri kita, jelas kita masih kalah dalam hal teknologi produksi maupun desain kendaraan, namun ke depannya semoga industri mobil listrik nasional bisa mencontoh Tesla dan tidak hanya berakhir sebatas prototipe.
